National Suicide Prevention Month at MCAS Miramar
Together, we can make a difference. Join us for this month to raise awareness on mental health.
National Suicide Prevention Month aims to inspire hope, encourage help-seeking behaviors, and ultimately save lives. It's a poignant reminder that each of us has a role in creating a world where mental health is prioritized and those struggling to find the support and strength to overcome their challenges. September marks the month for raising awareness in suicide prevention. Throughout this month, communities and organizations come together to provide resources and promote understanding about the challenges faced by those who struggle with mental health.
What is the 988 lifeline?
A hotline designed to provide immediate access to mental health and crisis support services for individuals who are experiencing emotional distress, struggling with suicidal thoughts, or facing any form of mental health crisis. Similar to the well-known emergency number 911 for physical emergencies, 988 aims to make it easier for individuals in need to connect with trained professionals who can offer assistance, emotional support, and guidance. The creation of the 988 hotline reflects a significant step in prioritizing mental health care and suicide prevention, making these essential services more accessible to those who require them.
