We're Going Cashless!

Starting Friday, August 8, all Barstow MCCS and MCX facilities will accept only credit cards, mobile payments, bank cards, or MCCS/MCX gift cards.

To provide faster, safer, and more convenient service, we're transitioning to a cashless payment system. We appreciate your understanding as we make this change to enhance your experience.

Why are all MCCS facilities going cashless?

Moving to cashless operations improves transaction speed, enhances customer safety, reduces the risk of theft or loss, and helps us better allocate staff resources.

When will this change take effect?

The cashless transition will begin on Friday, August 8, and will be fully implemented across all MCCS and MCX facilities.

What forms of payment will be accepted?

We accept all major credit and debit cards, as well as mobile payment options such as Apple Pay and Android Pay.

Will I still be able to use cash anywhere on base?

After the transition is complete, MCCS and MCX facilities (retail, food services, events, etc.) will no longer accept cash. However, non-MCCS locations such as the base Commissary will still accept it.

What if I don't have a credit card or mobile pay option?

We recommend using prepaid debit cards or reloadable MCCS and MCX gift cards, which are widely available at retail stores and online.

Does this apply to all events and special programs?

Yes, all MCCS-hosted events, programs, and facilities will follow the cashless model–including ticket sales, food vendors, and on-site purchases.

Will this impact tipping at salons or barbershops?

Yes. Gratuities can be added to your card payment or provided through mobile payment platforms, depending on the location.

Are there any exceptions to this policy?

At this time, there are no planned exceptions. This is a full transition for all MCCS and MCX facilities.

Who can I contact if I have concerns about this change?

Please email or call (760) 577-6733. We're happy to help you prepare for the transition.

Where can I find updates or more information?

Follow us on social media for updates, tutorials, and reminders as we move toward a fully cashless system.
