4 Ways To Challenge Yourself to Save!
1. Participate in a 52 week money challenge. What could you do with an extra $1,378 next year? That’s the amount you will save when you participate in our 52 week money challenge. You start the challenge by saving $1 in Week One, $2 in Week 2, etc, until you reach the last week of the year, Week 52, when you will save $52. By then you will have collected a total of $1,378 in your account.
Week | Amount Saved This Week | Total Amount Saved |
Week 1 | $1 | $1 |
Week 2 | $2 | $3 |
Week 3 | $3 | $6 |
Week 4 | $4 | $10 |
Week 5 | $5 | $15 |
2. At the end of each week, put all your loose change in a savings jar. Pennies make dollars! For even more savings, try saving all your $1 bills or all your $5 bills every week.
3. Save automatically. Set up allotments or automatic transfers to your savings account.
4. Open a Thrift Savings account. Sign up for the Thrift Saving Plan at MyPay. To learn more about TSP, read Save for the Future! Become a Knowledgeable Investor, or watch the video below.
